Talent competition coming to Airway Heights Festival | Community Spirit
Taking after the hit T.V. show, Airway Heights will be hosting their own Got Talent event as part of this year's Airway Heights Festival at the end of August.
“We want the community to be engaged,” says Jacob Powers who is heading up the event with the local Kiwanis Club. In the past, the festival has featured bands and other entertainment but the bands weren't holding the audience's attention.
“If anything is family friendly or family orientated, Airway Heights shows up,” says Powers. The competition for all ages and aims at bringing neighbors together at an interactive event. The show coincides with the 30th Annual Ford Car Show and the 3rd Annual Watermelon Races.
Powers describes Airway Heights as a growing and thriving community, but says that many people don't go past what they see along the main drag. There is more to the city than the casino and Fairchild Air Force Base. Adding the Got Talent event to the festival is a way to bring all aspects of the community together.
Everyone from the West Plains area and Spokane area are encouraged to enter the first round of auditions on August 3rd. Those who make it through the first round will be invited back to show off their talents on the big stage on Friday, August 23rd. The big finale will be held on Saturday where performers will be competing for a $500 grand prize.
As Powers puts it, you never know what talent is hiding on the other side of the fence. The first round auditions for Airway Heights Got Talent is on August 3rd at the Community Center, for more information click HERE.
