Candy Cane Hayride brings Santa to Cheney | Community Spirit
Santa Claus is coming to Cheney on Wednesday night. For the 14th year in a row Santa will be escorted through town on the Candy Cane Hayride by the Cheney Firefighters Union Local 1919 in conjunction with the Cheney Volunteer Firefighters Association.
Firefighters will be on the Candy Cane Hayride for one night only handing out treats to Cheney residents. The fire engine will be decked out in lights and playing Christmas music. Last year, the department says they had a great turnout and were able to collect a lot of food for the local food banks.
The purpose of the night is to have fun, spread holiday cheer and give local kids a chance to see Santa. The firefighters also want to use the hayride to say thank you to the community for all of their support. Firefighters will head out from the Salnave area around 5 pm. Around 7:15 pm they will arrive at the Safeway complex so people who live out of town or missed Santa in their neighborhood can catch up with the fun.
