EWU announces new college | News
Eastern Washington University announced a new college Monday. The College of Health Science & Public Health is set to open at the Riverpoint Campus in time for the 2014-15 school year.
“Eastern Washington University has a long tradition of excellence in the health sciences in downtown Spokane,” said EWU President Rodolfo Arévalo. “This new college will elevate our current programs, initiate research in critical health arenas, promote the development of additional health-related fields of study and expand degree options.”
The new college will be made up of already existing programs that are currently part of the College of Science, Health and Engineering, which will be renamed, and the College of Business and Public Administration. They include Communication Disorders, Dental Hygiene, the doctorate in Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, the new Master of Public Health, the Health and Services Administration certificate and the Regional Initiatives in Dental Education program.
EWU said the College of Health Science & Public will be a center point for expanded partnerships with University of Washington School of Dentistry and the health-related programs of the Community Colleges of Spokane. The college will also be key in expanded the university’s partnerships with private medical schools in Colombia and Costa Rica.
A new dean for the college will be hired in the coming months.
